Getting Ready

When I woke up on my wedding day, I made sure to take a moment to lay still and think for a moment. This was the day the Lord had made. It was time to rejoice and be glad. I couldn't help but smile as I laid there in my room at my parent's house. I could hear some bustling downstairs. No doubt it was my mom and my Aunt Judy getting brunch ready for the girls to arrive. I knew Jordan would be there in about a half hour, so I got up and hopped in the shower. When I was done I threw on my yellow pajama pants and white tank (wedding color PJs!) and headed downstairs. Of course, when I came into the kitchen, my mom started crying and I couldn't hold back my tears either. This was truly the happiest day of my life. The bridesmaids started arriving and we al had a little to eat. My mom and Aunt Judy had set up sausage and bacon, bagels, quiche, banana nut bread, juices and coffee. Tons of people told me that I needed to be sure I ate before the ceremony, and so I did!

When Jordan got there, we set her up in my parent's bedroom where the lighting was the best. Sherry arrived soon after to do makeup and she set up in my parent's bathroom. One by one, we got our hair done and make-up applied. Mike Brown, our photographer, got there at about 8:30 to take some pictures of each of us getting ready.

Finally it was time to get on our dresses!! I couldn't wait to see all the girls in their bridesmaid dresses, but of course I was dying to put on mine! I helped Megan, Laura and Isabel into their dresses. They all looked so beautiful, but Isabel made me cry. She was stunning!

I asked for a moment alone to get into my dress and when I closed the door, I realized it was the last time I would be just me, in my pjs, as a Wojo. It was in this moment that I thanked God for everything in my life and for walking with me to this moment. When I took my dress off the hanger, the reality of the moment set in. I stepped into the dress, pulled the straps up over my shoulder, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I was officially a bride. I walked into my parent's room where all the bridesmaids were waiting to help. My mom and Laura went to work on all the tiny little buttons up the back of my dress while Megan helped to snip andy loose threads. When I was all buttoned in, Lettice helped me with my vail and Laura slid on my garters. Amanda helped Isabel fix my train and suddenly, it was time to leave for the church.

The limo arrived right on time and we all piled in. I was so glad that Mike was there because he had us stop at the entrance to Las Sendas to take some pictures by the scenery.

On the way to the church, I played the song "We are Young" by Fun. There's something about those lyrics that made me feel so invigorated! "Tonight. We are young. So let's set the world on fire. We can burn brighter, than the sun." And we were! Young! On Fire! Burning Bright! For this was the day the Lord had made!
When we got to the church, everything was perfect! I couldn't wait to see Jason standing at the end of that aisle...
